Answerthink Europe and The Hackett Group have just published the 3rd joint European Financial Shared Services Study, which identifies a number of compelling trends and baseline metrics about European Shared Services Organisations.
In early summer 2004 more than 450 leading European companies were asked to complete a web-based questionnaire in order to collect the data presented in this report. This year’s record participation of 84 companies from 14 countries as well as feedback received during the execution of this study, confirms European companies’ thirst for information about Shared Services Organisations for the Finance function.
The study’s remit included defining which finance processes are routed through SSOs; identifying the most common reasons for implementation; benefits gained; understanding where SSOs are located now and future trends; which IT landscape is used; an analysis of which Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are deployed to measure progress; and whether European management teams typically have enough reliable information to make an informed decision about the potential benefits and drawbacks of SSOs for their particular situation.
